I just remembered my first phone (Sagem...). It had a black and green display and I had it for 6 months. Nothing spectacular. After that I bought Nokia 3310. It was an amazing phone. I remember I bought a red case for it. It looked so futuristic and glossy and it was a breakthrough at the time. My friends always played the well known snake game. My roomate beat the record by playing it 10 hours straight.
I got Motorola T720i as a gift in 2003. It was my first camera phone, although the picture quality was really poor. Another cool features of this phone was the color display. Not many cell phones had this feature at that time.
In 2005 I was given a K350i. With 1.3 MP camera I was able to take 1280x1024 photos. It also featured video recording which was great. In the same period I bought the Motorola L6 from a guy. The main feature of this phone was it's slimness and battery stand-by time. I still have the L6 because it lasts up to one week per charge.
In march 2007 I bought Nokia N73 and I was blown by the camera quality, the display and the way you could listen to music. VGA video recording capability were cool features.
In september 2007 I sold the N73 and bought the N95. It was my first real smartphone and I had it for 3 years. The N95 took amazing pictures and videos and I was able to install many cool software on it. It was crowned the best phone of 2007. There are not enough words to praise this phone. The only downside was poor battery life.
After reading extensively about the smartphones available these days, I went for Nokia N8. The main reason for this is that N8 has the best camera so far (12 MP). I love the phone, but I'm waiting for the next firmware update.
